T’was quite the brutal night. Upon my arrival at what I believed to be a modest 9:30 pm, I was stunned to see James, Michael, Brian, and Greg (as well as a table full of various collected PWers) still conscious, having been there since 4 pm, working their way down the list pint by pint. Finally, slamming down a pint glass emptied of PT Barley Wine, Michael proudly announced the draft list completion. “Great job, now start over, from the top!” challenged barstud and beer connoisseur John. Hmmmm…tempting, John. More tastes were had, but alas, as the last swig was downed, the crowd diminished, leaving only the hardcore and the too-drunk-to-stand. But a fun night was had by all, especially those who were lucky enough to get some Rogue Brutal Bitter on the Randall…yummm. Cheers PW people! Thanks for a crazy night. Thanks for ruining my Thanksgiving.

South Sound baby boomers wanted by the Peace Corps
Your adventures are only just beginning. The Peace Corps believes that no single group has more to offer in terms of experience, maturity, and demonstrated ability. Because there’s no upper age limit to serve in the Peace Corps, it’s never too late. In fact, Volunteers who are well into their 80’s have served and continue to serve. Join us for an evening of pictures and stories about Peace Corps service for the +50 Volunteer. Neal Hansen, a regional recruiter and local area returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served with his wife after the age of 50, will facilitate a panel of other local area Volunteers who also served in the Peace Corps after the age of 50. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the Peace Corps experience is welcome to attend. Because space may be limited, RSVP’s are highly encouraged. Please e-mail seattle@peacecorps.gov or call 800.424.8580 with the number of people in your party.

Dear Tacoma..
How I am honored to be your friend, great Tacoma. You have for so long been only a city I traveled through via SR16, but in the past several years you and I, we’ve grown close.
Oh Tacoma: How I savor our nights we spend in the drizzle fo’ shizzle. Oh Tacoma: The thick aroma of your pulp mills is like the familiar sweetness of a lovers sweat..
Oh Tacoma, nestled ‘tween the Cascades and Olympics, with the beauty of the Thea Foss and prominence of one of the nations largest sea ports. In my eyes, your chief export is love. From the cobbled streets of Historic Stadium District, to the fine architecture of Old Town; from the bustle of 6th ave, to the hustlers on South Tacoma; From the hardwoods of the Parkway, to the shag of the World Famous Java Jive; let your justice and strength ring true like Karaoke at Jazz Bones. A city built divinely like the Kallipolis of Plato’s Republic; where both the proletariat and the bourgeois can share a Belgium ale, Burger Dip, and a sense of brotherhood.
I salute you, fine Tacoma: Godspeed, Cheers, and ‘Stay Classy..’

1 hellish quarter down, 1 more to go
Yes i’m still here, i didn’t do anything crazy like move to Tenino or anything. i mean come on we all know there’s no such thing as Teninoness. . . You see, somehow i decided it would be a smart idea to continue to work full time AND go to class 4 nights a week till 9pm. I am overjoyed with the realization that all my tests and papers are done and i’ve made a solemn vow to never again take a class requiring a number 2 pencil and scan-tron sheet. I’m happy to find out that my wife and dog still remember me, it’s going to be slightly odd over the next few nights as we quietly do absolutely nothing together.
Looking around the neighborhood I see a few interesting things have changed. My good friend Derek’s taken on a whole new set of adventures in life which I think is very cool and exciting. Another great friend Marty Campbell’s announced he’s running for city council and that too will be a great adventure.
i’m not sure what’s in store for Tacomaness over the long term, but in the short term i’ve closed down the forums and am happily pointing folks over to Exit133.com’s forum, which are far more lively, far more frequently moderated and far less likely to be the target of those annoying forum spammers and their porn links.
If you still stop by let me know how you’ve been and with any luck we’ll figure out something interesting to do with this place.
